Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC

Position Title: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Reports To:  Directors

Location: Arizona and/or Alaska (Hybrid/Remote options available)

Status: Part-Time or Full-Time, Employee 

Position Summary:

Refocus Counseling Ministry, Inc. is a Christian nonprofit counseling organization dedicated to restoring hope, healing hearts, and renewing minds through faith-integrated clinical care. The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) provides individual, family, and group counseling services with compassion and excellence, addressing a range of mental health, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical mental health counseling to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and/or families.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with state and agency requirements.
  • Integrate biblical principles and prayer (as appropriate and requested by the client) into the therapeutic process.
  • Maintain a caseload based on agreed schedule and productivity expectations.
  • Collaborate with clinical team members, supervisors, and ministry staff for coordinated care and consultation.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and continued professional development.
  • Adhere to ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice and uphold the mission of Refocus Counseling Ministry.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid license in the state of practice (LPC, LPCC, LCPC, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 1 year post-licensure counseling experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills in trauma-informed care, family systems, and/or faith-based counseling.
  • Commitment to Christian values and a heart for ministry.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training in EMDR, DBT, or other specialty modalities.
  • Experience in pastoral or church-related ministry.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

Receiving/ Office Manager

Position Title: Receiving/Office Manager

Reports To: Executive Director or Administrative Director

Location: Wasilla, Alaska (on-site at 1075 S Check Street, Suite 206)

Status: Part-Time or Full-Time, Employee

Starting Wage: $18.50 per hour

Position Summary:

The Receiving/Office Manager at Refocus Counseling Ministry, Inc. in Wasilla is the first point of contact for clients and a key player in maintaining smooth office operations. This individual creates a welcoming and professional environment while supporting administrative and clinical staff with essential front desk and clerical duties. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and aligned with the ministry’s Christian mission of providing hope and healing.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Reception & Front Desk:

  • Greet clients and visitors with warmth and professionalism.
  • Answer phones, respond to emails, and manage client communications with discretion and care.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and check-in procedures.
  • Distribute and collect intake forms and provide basic support with paperwork.

Office & Administrative Management:

  • Maintain office supplies, cleanliness, and organization of the front office and shared spaces.
  • Receive and process incoming mail, packages, referrals, and clinical records.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality procedures.
  • Coordinate communication and document flow between clinical and administrative teams.

Clerical Support:

  • Scan, upload, and organize documents in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Record and assist with payment collection, including co-pays and invoices.
  • Support ministry operations with special projects, scheduling, and communication tasks.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or administrative training preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of office or administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare or counseling setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and standard office equipment.
  • Committed to Christian values and maintaining a spirit of grace, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Preferred:

  • Experience with electronic health records (e.g., SimplePractice, TherapyNotes).
  • Background in a counseling or ministry office.

Student Intern

Position Title: Counseling Intern (Practicum/Internship Student)

Reports To: Clinical Supervisor

Location: Wasilla, Alaska (on-site at 1075 S Check Street, Suite 206; some telehealth opportunities may be available)

Status: Unpaid Internship (for academic credit or licensure hours)

Position Summary:

Refocus Counseling Ministry, Inc. in Wasilla, Alaska offers practicum and internship opportunities for master’s-level counseling students who desire clinical experience in a faith-based, trauma-informed setting. Interns will receive qualified supervision while working directly with individuals, families, and groups, integrating biblical principles with clinical interventions to support healing and transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling services to clients under direct supervision, including intake, assessment, treatment planning, and progress tracking.
  • Participate in weekly individual and/or group supervision meetings in compliance with university and state requirements.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation per HIPAA and agency guidelines.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and clinical case consultations.
  • Practice cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and ethical care at all times.
  • Integrate Christian values and biblical insight into therapeutic work when appropriate and requested by the client.

Learning Objectives May Include:

  • Practical application of counseling theories, skills, and interventions.
  • Increased competence in clinical documentation and diagnostic formulation.
  • Experience delivering trauma-informed and spiritually integrated care.
  • Development of professional identity in alignment with licensure expectations.
  • Enhanced understanding of counseling ministry in a nonprofit, faith-based setting.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or related field.
  • Officially approved for practicum or internship by the academic program.
  • Demonstrated commitment to growth, learning, and ethical practice.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Alignment with the mission, values, and Christian foundation of Refocus Counseling Ministry.


Alaska Missionary Counselor Opportunity

Serve. Counsel. Restore.

Commitment: 6 months to 1 year

Position Type: Missionary Volunteer or Support-Raised Counselor

Overview:

Refocus Counseling Ministry is seeking passionate, faith-driven counselors to serve in our Alaska location as part of our mission to bring hope and healing to underserved communities. This is a unique opportunity for counselors who feel called to ministry, love the beauty of Alaska, and want to use their gifts to make an eternal impact.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Master’s level counselor, therapist, or social worker (or currently completing licensure/internship)
  • Heart for missions and a willingness to serve in a rural or semi-rural setting
  • Strong Christian faith and desire to integrate biblical truth into clinical care
  • Willingness to work with youth, individuals, couples, and families
  • Flexible, teachable, and self-motivated

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, marriage, and family counseling from a trauma-informed, Christian perspective
  • Participate in community outreach and ministry events
  • Collaborate with our local team and receive clinical supervision/support as needed
  • Serve approximately 20–25 client sessions per week (depending on need and availability)
  • Assist in program development or support services, depending on your strengths and calling
